I think if you are wanting to return to band it is the PERFECT time to get back in. You can help us rebuild our programs. So many are going to leave the profession, retire, or move on. If you want to get back in now is the time. I say go for it! However, if you love your current gig you will have to weigh your options. We need good band directors more than ever now...but we also need need great elementary teachers too.
