I go to great lengths to make sure that money doesn't keep a student out of band. We don't charge a band fee per se, but students pay for their own marching shoes, band T-shirt and band polo (total $70.00).

There have been a few times I've taken payments from families facing hardships, but for the most part, there have been no issues with this. If I tried to charge a band fee, my numbers would go down significantly.
