Just play solos. They'll all have to do selections from Ford or Davilla in region. Suite Mexicana (used to be a class 1, not anymore) is a great first four-mallet solo. Yellow After the Rain, Raindance are nice 2nd and 3rd ones. By then the kid is able to play 4 mallets and can decide how much of a challenge they want going forward.
