Stave construction drums out of exotic hardwoods, require some creativity with router jigs and an accurate manner of cutting a 7.25 degree angle.
Woodblocks are very easy with a hollow chisel mortise machine, good router, or even just a drill press and forstner bit set. A block of maple or other dense hardwood, ~ a 3/8" mortise roughly half an inch down from the top ending roughly half an inch from either side; about 3/4-7/8 of the depth of the block. Add rubber feet or threaded inserts to the bottom if desired.
