This has been my concern all along. I do not think UIL Music contests should be occurring this spring. If I posted this publicly, I would be shamed for being overly critical of the UIL director. Unfortunately, opposing viewpoints are taboo regarding this issue and are sharply and publicly criticized by those who simply want to “protect the family.” The pressure to perform during this pandemic is INCREDIBLY high. This is about money...period. Some of the SAME people who post self-righteous drivel about the mishandling of this virus are the SAME people who illogically defend the decision by UIL to allow for region performances. Regardless of the reasons to keep UIL contests up and running, this all boils down to one thing...money! It bemuses me to see people talk out both sides of their mouths.
