I've been where you are and I'm there again. At ten years, I took a year off. I was lucky to find a job when I came back.

Lucky and unlucky. After ten years I feel like leaving and taking your TRS and moving it to 401K is not a bad deal.

Now I'm 20 years in and I feel like its too late and I need to just tough it out. This year has been tough and this new district is even tougher.

My advice: if you are going to leave, do it now while you can still make your retirement goals. You can still work in another profession and be ok.
