If you look at it as the Lily Pad problem I think it makes the most sense why this could be a bigger problem. If you start with a Lily Pad or two that double every day in population, and completely cover the pond at the 50th day, at what day is 50% of the pond covered?
The 49th Day. Sometimes exponential growth doesn't seem that bad until you're actually in the worst of it. We're getting potentially to that point here. If we can make it through until vaccinations without hitting that rate I would be personally quite happy! We've been increasing in cases about 1.3% per day, so it's been slower. The question of course will be Christmas and New Years. Based on the mobility data from UT I don't have a lot of hope for that being anything other than an explosion of cases coming our way very soon.
