When I started cello lessons in college I used the Deak. It’s old and shows it’s age but since I was more concerned with learning the instrument than with liking all the beginner pieces it worked well for me. Suzuki works well for adults too if you supplement some exudes (Lee or Schroeder) and practice scales and arpeggios. I like the Kayser book for scales.
