We really should, I understand why people don't but I can tell you that my band and school are pumped to have another run next year. Football crowns 4 state champions every 2 years per class and Marching Band only gets 1.

We really shoot ourselves in the foot by not showcasing our students the way athletics has. You can argue the merits of it all you want, but if we had as many opportunities to compete as athletics, our already great programs would strengthen and grow.

This kind of attitude (not wanting state every year) really holds us back, just look at how many 1A programs have already grown (and even started up brand new) because of the 1A state contest. This means more band is happening for more kids.

Honestly this is the way we are trending and if you are not planning on how to best handle this with your program, you will be left behind. The old guard that wanted it every other year is moving out over the years and it is only a matter of time before State every year happens.
