There are situations that occur that do impair your opportunities to advance every year, not just with COVID. Congratulations to those that advanced to state this year and best wishes in two more years. If you didn't advance it doesn't determine the worth of your program as we all go through up and downs. You'll have your opportunity in two more years to advance.
I think the 'repeat' opportunity provides for more conflict than the benefits. What about 1A/3A/5A? If a 2A/4A/6A program has the opportunity to advance three years in a row, why can't 1A/3A/5A?
The committee needs to leave it the same as before COVID or make it every year for every class. Before someone cries 'NO!' not every year, you do not have to check that box with intent to advance to area. Band is the only UIL event that I know of that does not advance every year.
