I'm in a large urban district with multiple 5A and 6A high schools (obviously, by the name).
Football season is still going on. That means cheerleaders, bands, drill teams, and football players are all still on campus regularly.
Basketball season is getting up and running as of this past weekend.
And add to all of this - STAAR makeups are coming up in two weeks. All of our Juniors and especially Seniors that need to retake STAAR for graduation will need to be on campus for that remediation and work.
Because of these two things (athletics and STAAR), no matter that there are literally thousands of new cases daily in my county, the district isn't going to go virtual.
When football season is over? Maybe. But I think we'll at LEAST be on campus through to Christmas break at this point.
Never mind that last week I had to cover *four* classes in my room more than once because there simply aren't any subs. Never mind that four classes combined were only nine kids, because the students aren't even coming to school anymore either.
We're stuck in this.
