Re: I'm Open to Suggestions
You said you took this job due to a family situation, but now you are willing to leave. This is why I still would not take a known bad job even for family reasons. If you now willing to leave even though you went there for family reasons, couldn't you have just held out for something better in the area, or find another solution to take care of the family situation? I'm not scolding I'm just wondering because I hear and see of this happening a lot with directors and I'm always blown away that they wind up leaving anyway. When you're in a toxic place, you can't devote the energy you need for your family situation. If you've had great success before going to your present district, I don't think you're going to have any problems getting a better job. In the future, just look for more options before putting yourself in that situation. Even if you're taking care of a fatally ill relative, I think taking a lot of personal days to travel would be better than teaching in a cesspool to be closer. In fact, I know of a director who is doing this now, and his bands are still successful and making sweepstakes.
