Re: Band Hall Dimensions
We built one about four years ago. We refused to back down on the absolute necessities (since band and choir were a driving force in getting the bond through). We built 60’ x 60’ with A 20’ ceiling. We threw in some things we knew wouldn’t go so our needs seemed more reasonable (music computer lab, secondary rehearsal space, outdoor storage, dedicated paved practice field). We wound up with a great rehearsal space, real percussion and instrument storage, a guard room, four practice rooms, a library/conference room on the office, an outdoor equipment storage room, and a faculty shower.
When it was done, there was a bunch of dead space upstairs in the mezzanine where the internal AC units were, so we convinced them to cage off a good chunk of it for band and choir deep storage - now the sousaphones, battery, and props don’t live in my rehearsal space during concert season, and the upstairs is climate controlled, too!
