He was at School X. Liked it there, but School Y next door had an opening that offered more money. He took the job at Y, and resigned from X.
After about a week in June at Y, he had realized that it was a bad move. He knew that his resignation had not been officially accepted by the board at X. On the way home, he saw the superintendent from X on the highway. He pulled alongside and frantically signaled him to pull over.
Here's how he said the conversation went:
HBD: You got my resignation, right?
Super: Yeah, and I understand why you took the job at Y. Don't worry, the board meeting is tonight, and then we'll release you.
HBD: DON'T RELEASE ME!!
HBD then told him why.
The next day at Y the HBD gets called into the superintendent's office. The Super at Y informs him that X refused to release him from his contract at X, and that he would have to void is contract at Y, and return to X.
