On clarinet, you have to be much more precise to get your finger to seal the hole. On sax, as long as your finger lands somewhere on the key, it'll play.
We start clarinet players early on thinking about fingering choices as soon as we introduce pinky keys. Saxophones don't have multiple options for those notes. Clarinet players have more choices overall.
