But I think you're off regarding the likeliness of 5A-6A schools as more sophisticated, therefore more willing to do things to address the danger. Here's why:
Houston, Austin, D-FW, and San Antonio are all surrounded by suburbs with large schools which statistically are just as red. For example, the very same arrogance of the Bubba and the Sally Maes exists in Lake Travis, Cedar Park, Judson, Cibolo, Smithson Valley, Allen, Frisco, Southlake-Carroll, Duncanville The Woodlands, Pearland, Brazoswood, etc.
And you have smaller cities where the entire city is Bubba-land: Amarillo, Lubbock, Odessa, Midland, Beaumont, Waco...
There is little evidence of disaster as they use the small schools to ease our way into perceived normality. It's fake. We are in incredible danger. UIL,TEA, and all of these school districts and communities are culpable.
To see our children on the field and in the stands on Friday night is a powerful, emotional, traditional, amazing experience for communities and families. Is the experience worth killing vulnerable people?
I shudder at this thought-that we even think it...
