Re: Uil Needs to shut this down
Here's the problem and I will say that these are generalizations. The larger 5A and 6A suburban and urban school districts are doing things to try and address the virus and student and staff safety. They told UIL and TEA to stick it and started the year virtually with no in person events. UIL and TEA backed down and modified their schedules around those school districts. Small schools have more Bubbas and Sally Maes. All they care about is football. UIL knows this. They know the small schools think the virus is a hoax and will continue to play even if kids get sick. They know that these small schools will keep going until they get below 11 kids and can't field a team any more even with kids playing both ways. I'm in a small school and I am seeing this mentality first hand. In fact, the first thing that our admin. did was worry about football, then the classroom sorta. I'm not trying to bash anyone's school and as I said, these are generalizations. Yes, there are some small schools that have shut it down and are trying to keep their kids and staff safe. And there are also large schools out there that are doing business as usual virus be damned. I just wish there was some common sense being used in more places.
