Most of our kids, while able to use a phone for a ton of things, are still largely functionally computer illiterate.
They can't touch type.
They don't know the difference between Excel and Access.
They don't know how to exclude things from a Google search, or properly format a Word document.
All of the things WE were taught in a "microcomputing" class or the like back in the day are now no longer being taught - because kids are expected to know it already.
Just like in the ensemble, we need to spend time teaching the skills we expect them to have. If you haven't taught it, assume they don't know it.
