No, you don't know what's up. Many of us in the small schools have incomplete instrumentation and don't have two or three trombones or even a lot of low brass or a lot of anything. The pieces being taken off are usually for limited instrumentation and as those pieces are removed it paints some of us into a smaller and smaller corner. If you don't like or value certain pieces (your opinion, not a fact) then don't program them. I don't see why you and other big school directors get to make decisions for my program. You may teach a sub-non varsity group but you'll likely get to move up and direct the higher bands and will have the instrumentation and talent to play grade 4 and 5 literature.
