Re: Venting and ranting
I agree with you on the basic point that there's no obvious correct and/or responsible answer for leaders to embrace in the current situation. But the nature of good leadership is to expect criticism, to respond to fair criticism, to avoid making decisions to prove a social or political point, and to generally discourage risk-taking when managing the health and well-being of those they serve.
School and community leaders should not be treated as pastors, parents, therapists or other individuals whom might deserve benefit of the doubt as they coach us to grow and improve. Public leaders should respond to their constituents with reasonable, well-justified answers. Too much mind-changing and authoritarianism is anti-leadership and creates confusion, uncertainty, and disarray.
