Re: The flute "issue"
Look at the research studies that just came out with preliminary results and it looks like we're going to find out flute isn't as bad as many of us thought it would be. The graphs from this available presentation: https://www.nfhs.org/media/4029969/preliminary-testing-report-7-13-20.pdf
make it seem like flute is awful if you don't look at the axis and compare it across. Flute is actually fairly low in emissions compared to trumpet high notes. Honestly their presentation file there is hard to compare due to the way they generated it. https://www.facebook.com/groups/48322722244/permalink/10156983252367245/
has an interview with one of the grade students.
Win-D-Fenders are something we've actually used in my high school band since they came out a few years ago - so I had thought of them. Looking at the graph they made no difference. Face Shields are also not helping with aerosols because they like plexi glass just change the flow of the air.
Based on this information I'm worrying about bell covers primarily and maintaining 6 feet of distance minimum at all times. The other big thing is depending on your air exchange rate inside you need to clear out after 30 minutes to let the air clear.
