We hope the following information will help clarify rehearsal and performance options under the modified calendar released today.
The 20 hour limit on summer marching/visual fundamentals ends on July 31.
The first day you may begin learning the visual/marching portion for the UIL contest show is September 7. Time spent on anything other than the visual/marching portion for the UIL contest show between August 1 and September 7 is a school district decision. For example, there is no UIL imposed limit on rehearsing or performing the music for the UIL contest show.
If your school is playing football games prior to the date that you are permitted to, or are prepared to, perform any visual/marching portion of the UIL show you may choose other performance options similar to what many bands do at playoff games.
By state law the 8-hour rule begins on the first day of your school year, whether remote, in person, or hybrid.
