There are people who are paid well to make these decisions, but now you are asking a band director to accept ridicule from students, parents, and community for trying to keep kids safe. These are people we have to go to church with and shop at the grocery store with. We have to take on the "band guy" role when UIL could help us out. Nobody asked for December marching band. This made an already difficult situation much worse. It's not cowardly to ask the UIL for help.
Anybody out there comfortable piling students into a bus and traveling? I am close to a big city and I am absolutely not. If I was in a county with only a few cases I probably would not have a problem with it. However, ask panhandle directors if they want to march in December?
