I'm supposed to have 300 beginners (tons of students signed up for band back in Feb when the economy was great)! Now with Covid, I don't know what to do with those numbers! I normally start Fl CL TR Tb and Per, but with the proposed schedule I think I'll only see a kid once every 4 days. I'm thinking about just doing percussion style rhythm work for ALL students until there's a Vaccine. Theory, Note reading, counting, playing tests, history of their instrument and such. Then I don't have to get close to the kids with checking aperture and embouchures. I don't have to fix a kid's broken trumpet or touch a reed. I don't have to sanitize anything because if they don't bring drumsticks they just clap or tap their legs or use 2 pencils.
Anyone else thinking like this?
Should I cancel my Instrument Rental Night?
Is anyone planning a beginner concert for 1st semester?
I would guess we will go 2 weeks then the Covid cases will rise so then 2 weeks of Online and then try in-person for 2 weeks until the cases rise...YadaYada... This year is going to suck!
