I feel your pain. The fact that your band has produced better results doesn't register to admin that have no clue about band. I too somehow went to a school like you are describing, your current position. I ended my career there. The school's reputation had stained mine and I wasn't marketable. When I realized that, I focused on the students that were in my class and focused on being the best teacher for them. Did it make a difference to anyone? Yes, the parents and students that were in the band. They will tell you that band was their refuge in the day. A place where they had expectations and were held accountable. A place with standards that helped them grow to be productive adults. And yes, enjoy performing and being in a group that had higher expectations. Focus on providing for the students in front of you, and don't wear the chaos of the other parts of the campus.
