I disagree. This is ok if you teach in upper suburbia and have the resources. Many students outside of that do live with high risk individuals that still must work as well. I don't even see how in good faith we could even pretend that football should happen for HS this year. All of the major professional sports can't even get their camps off the ground because of the new infections. Colleges are having outbreaks and shutting down their camps. HS here around Texas have had to shut down because of players contracting the virus. Is this about kids or not? The students and communities we serve deserve for us to be overly cautious, though we are no where near doing that. Say what you will but I'd rather my students live and be without health issues than worry about what we're "used to" in Texas. Band will eventually go on and football will eventually play. But when did we become so selfish where money and tradition trumps safety and care for our kids?
