When your student loan payment so you could do this job is in excess of a mortgage, and you have rent because you canít afford said mortgage, and then all the bills that go with lining indoors and eating hot food, and (in my case) youíre still paying off the credit card that kept you from going homeless when your wife lost her job due to a medical issue and you were expressly disallowed from holding a job during student teaching, and youíre still paying off your firstborn from when you couldnít afford insurance and contraception didnít work, and and and...
You sound like someone who attended college when tuition and fees were $1000 a semester and a part time would cover it. Iím happy you have a years worth in savings. You are statistically a micro-minority. Iím good with managing my money, but I doubt Iíll ever hit a point where I have a year in savings.
