What I did was get a job with a charter school that provided an excellent teacher development program. They hire a ton of Teach for America fellows so they invest heavily in training. I had to pass the content exam and attend regular Saturday sessions, but I was teacher of record and the cost (around 3k I think) was deducted from my paycheck over 10 months. I stayed at that school for 4 years, and Iím now at a regular middle school in a perennial sweepstakes program. By the way, many of those young TFA folks burned out in 1-2 years, but there were also some incredibly gifted teachers among them. Some people decide the classroom is right for them later than others. It doesnít make them less qualified in the end.
