A few brief pauses during the fall semester (see what restaurants, bars, and businesses are doing when they have a positive case. They don't shut down for good or for 6 months. They close, trace, isolate, clean, and open back up a few days later quite safely with those that are ill or came in close contact isolating). Because a student or faculty has covid does not mean that they infected all 3000 kids in the school building.
Why don't you tell me how families are supposed to "lock it back down" and still make a living. I'm good with expecting people to have some emergency funds. NOBODY has 6 months or 12 months worth of emergency funds to just sit at home and not everybody can work from home.
