Honestly, based on the numbers the best thing that could happen would be for all of those athletes that are young and in great physical shape to get it. They will recover and make a huge jump towards herd immunity. They aren't the ones at risk. Nursing homes are. And it wouldn't be a bad thing for the schools to go back either based on all the research regarding kids. Even with a few flare ups and some temporary closures. There are flu closures all the time, (I know of several districts last year in November/December in Texas that closed for a few days or week due to absences). If there is an outbreak shut it down for a few days. That's what the testing task force is for at the state to swoop in, test, isolate, and return the healthy back to the world.
