I wanted to stay in the area where I already lived because my husband had a good job. We didn't want to be looking for 2 jobs when it was already difficult to find one!
Our options were
1) Find a job in a different location
2) Choose a job that isn't in the profession
You would have a 3rd choice of taking the job that is offered. (Income is always better than no income) Even if its not ideal, it will only be a for a year.
I ended up working as an investigator for children's protective services for almost 2 years before I found a teaching job. Sometimes circumstances cause things not to work out like you planned.
I also wouldn't take the job offer, then back track. Burned bridges are NEVER good. It may come back to you when you least expect it.
