If we need to be locked down, fine. No one goes anywhere. Stay in your home. Patrols in the streets. You get a food delivery by trained people in hazmat suits. You only leave if you are being taken to the hospital.
What we got was, your betters will decide who wins and who loses. Businesses are closed! Unless you are the grocery store. Or the liquor store. Or Home Depot. Or the pool supply store. Or the pawn shop. Or the dry cleaners. You can't go into a restaurant, but you can go through a drive through or pick up food at the curb where you can't see at all whether they are following any kind of cleaning guidelines. Walmart and Target (except in Minneapolis) can sell clothes because they also sell groceries, but you couldn't open your clothes store, and now it won't reopen because you are broke. The tailor shop in my neighborhood can stay open because she is making masks - and let me fix that hem while you pick out your mask. 15,000 people can march in NYC one day because it is an important cause! But two days later they weld shut the gates of a playground in a Jewish neighborhood. The people truly in lockdown - those that are in jail - get released to go who knows where. Maybe to break into your closed business. Again. And if you decide to sit in there and defend your store overnight some neighborhood momma will call the police because you are supposed to be closed. Countless business have closed for good, and their owners have lost everything. Generational businesses have closed for good. But of course the work can continue on the new house you are building. This is why a second lockdown won't happen.
One of the basic pillars of our form of government is, "Government by the consent of the governed." The government is discovering that the governed are not blind or deaf or stupid.
