Given my wife's work (research, academia), any place we live will likely be metro/urban with large school districts. (There are only a handful of small schools in the area I live in now. I work at one as a "solo" director.) I want to build my credentials so that I have a better chance of being hired at a larger school that will likely require specializing in a particular instrument/range.
For those of you who are HDs or work in large school programs, or may have worked through similar circumstances, would you share your thoughts or opinions on whether it would be more beneficial to go back to school and complete a bachelor's degree in music ed, performance, or a master's degree in music ed? Or are there other things that could help me be a more viable candidate if I applied to a bigger school?
