Also, sticking with my original thrust, imagine we are able to perfectly quarantine 112,200,000 million people (US pop over 50). Even that tiny little .05% means an additional 108900 deaths, double what we have now.
Anyone comfortable with those numbers? That's the population of Wichita Falls. Are we okay with wiping an entire city off the map?
How many school employees are over 50? Principals? District admin? Do we just pay the most experienced of our staff to stay at home? We need to think through the entire implications of what we are asking.
As for the over 80 comment, you're not wrong. Their immune systems are often dealing with other issues that make Covid particularly devastating. But is that any reason to just throw them into the meat grinder?
