Re: Stipend vs. Extra Days
Schools can do whatever they want when it comes to this stuff. There is no standard for extra duty compensation. Some schools give only a stipend and say it covers everything outside regular hours and contract days. Some schools give a stipend to cover everything within the school year and extra days for everything outside the school year. Some schools allow Saturdays and Holidays you have to work to count as part of your extra days, some donít. Some schools will pay you extra days, but not at your daily rate, but flat rate ($100/day for example). Schools define daily rate differently: some add base+stipend/days some do base/days and donít take into consideration the stipend. Ultimately, you have to look at the big picture total compensation package and decide if youíre okay with it. You have to ask yourself if the total compensation matches the expectations that are placed on you as the director. The situation you donít want to be in is resentment ďif theyíre only going to give me x, then theyíre not getting a full days work.Ē Thatís when itís time leave.
