Both districts are of the same size (3A), similar tax base. I turned him down because:
--I would have to take a $17K CUT in pay, not having to pay for insurance could never make up for that.
--I would have to pay state income tax.
--That state's TRS system is bankrupt. About 7 years ago, the union convinced the governor that they could manage TRS better than the state could. The governor agreed, TRS came under union control, and they busted it within 18 months of taking control of it...we're talking about TWO BILLION dollars lost in a year and a half...there *was* enough in the fund to cover all of the retired teachers, plus give them all a COLA every year. Not anymore.
Yes, look what the union did to the teachers...and the union leadership is still there.
