Re: Has anyone played for graduation?
I agree. And also you'll be missing your seniors and if you are in a small 2A school like mine, you'll have some kids not show up and make the ensemble even smaller and incomplete. And since school is already out, you have nothing to hold over a kid's head. I've been in small schools where they wanted the band to perform. The same band that they refused to acknowledge any other time of the year. The same band that couldn't get a decent budget to buy any equipment or do repairs. The same band where scheduling problems existed year after year. The same band where administrators couldn't be bothered to come to concerts or contests. And we had a sweepstakes band, somehow. But the only thing the community cared about or supported is the 2-8 football team, losing volleyball team and Ag. All I wanted for the kids was a fair shake but we couldn't even get that even though we performed for parades, games, and last minute pep rallies during concert season (we did have a good basketball team). So yes, I agree with you. Let them use a recording rather than demanding even more of the band's time to play one song.
