Re: Mentoring Youth in Community
Our school uses Mentor's Care to help provide that for our students. Teachers can nominate students to be a part of the program and they meet once a week during one of their classes (usually an elective class) with their mentor. We've had some good results with that program over the last few years.
Does anyone have experience with becoming a mentor or something similar for the youth in your community? I'm not just talking band kids, but partnering with something like the YMCA or seeing if your school has a program to help potential at-risk teens. I work in a Title I district and was just thinking about ways to help out the community more and didn't know what people's thoughts were.
