Re: TEA vs UIL
I'd pump the brakes and wait some before trying to formulate a plan for your program. There is little in the UIL statement other than 'the governor's timeline would allow, and we are examining...' There are a lot of specifics in the TEA document that would suggest that summer band is pretty much done. Just wait and see what formal plan emerges. I am positive that TEA and UIL are working on some kind of unified plan, and since I am sure they are as uncertain as the rest of us right now, it may take a little bit.
Mow the lawn, have a beer, and let the muckedy mucks do their muckedy mucking.
Sectionals and full band?
So June 8th athletics can begin according to UIL with limited workouts and full team workouts August 3rd, correct? How is it being interpreted for music?
I'm just hoping that this stays in place solely for the summer school months. If that statement is put into place next fall we'll be in a lot of trouble. There's also a strong possibility that our cap in classrooms will be set 15 or lower. I think it's notable that the phrase for the athletic side is 'no indoor sports.' Truthfully they're hit just as hard by this!
The UIL info should be coming soon, and I know at least on that athletics side it's going to be crazily strict. I would assume we'll be under the same sort of guidance... From what I've heard we may be able to be outside... sort of if it's like that athletic side. (I don't feel like I should get more specific her until it comes out, but what I heard is going to be an absolute nightmare to setup for them)
