I'll add wear a mask too.
I'll admit, I'm more cautious and worry about opening up too soon, but I also understand from an economic perspective too. If EVERYONE is washing their hands more than usual, wearing a mask, being aware of what they touch, and respecting the space of people, that's probably the best we can do at the moment.
Additionally, if businesses, schools, and other public places are cleaning thoroughly, it will help the situation.
Bottom line, maybe this will make us a more sanitary nation, but based on what I've seen over the last week, we're not going that direction.
I am glad there is a measured approach to both the health and economics in our state. And health is more than a virus. Health is mental and physical well-being and it appears we are on a safe road to tackling a multi-level program. I know many of you don't agree and would be thrilled to death to be told to stay at home "until it's safe" and the great thing is you can continue to do that. Especially as educators with a signed contract and guaranteed money you can stay at home as long as your district will allow you. You can continue to have things delivered to your door and not visit vulnerable relatives or gather in large groups. You can stay as safe as you thought you were regardless. But those that need to work can. Hopefully this means we are approaching a more normal school year as well which our students need for many, many reasons as do the educators on this board, (though some of you would like to admit you are bullet-proof and can teach virtually for another year with no problems though I think if you stopped and thought about it for just a few seconds you would realize you won't have a career left if you don't get back in the classroom and get performances going again).... I'll get roasted for this but I put my big-boy pants on this AM so I can take it. But the reality is, we teach in an interactive setting that cannot be done virtually. We make fun of the "learn to play saxophone in 5 minutes" videos but in effect, if we don't get ourselves back in front of kids that is all there will be.....
So wash your hands, stay home when you are sick, cover your coughs, and wash your hands again.
I'm just curious what everyone here thinks the Governor will say today and what happens to this coming Fall. I honestly have no idea or opinion. Just asking to see what you all think. Thanks!
