I think at this point I would seriously be considering making this marching season a wash. Park and bark, new tune every couple of weeks with three or four sets plus drill team tune and we're out. If UIL happens, string a couple of those together and call it good (I'm guessing the bar for any UIL performance this year will be really low, especially if all summer band is verboten).
Regardless of what regulations and stipulations and guidelines end up happening, it is likely to be an insecure mess of a fall. If there are more covid issues, everything blows up. If there are not, people will still be holding their kids out, looking over your shoulder with a six foot stick, a bottle of sanitizer, and the local constabulary and newspaper on speed dial.
Not worth the stress.
The summer guidance from TEA encourages no choir or wind instruments for students due to possible droplet spread.
UIL sends out an email saying that we are about to have new guidelines for marching band and athletics participation...
I wish they could get on the same page. It would be much less stressful.
