That's not how viruses work. They spread and multiply until they kill the host, or the host develops antibodies to fight it. They "burn out" by killing hosts so fast they can't spread effectively. Those mutations that don't kill quickly become the dominant strain over time, and the virus eventually mutates into a version all the survivors can handle.
So-called "herd immunity" is what the latter is, but with this virus, earning herd immunity will cost us anywhere from 3.5 to 7 million lives--in the US alone.
