It looks like some people missed the point of this type of scheduling.
Kids may not have a choice. The whole point of scheduling like that in this scenario is to keep social distancing down.
I get what you are saying but that may not fly.
We already have this in place in many schools in my district. At my campus, we have early college programs where our EC students are off campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays, yet I still have morning practice before school starts, and after school once a week. They can't make the morning on the days they're off campus, but they do make it back in time in the afternoon to make the late practice.
If you make it a point to state that "here is practice, here is rehearsal, and this is when it is, and if you want a spot, you'll be there" those kids will show up. It's worked for us for a few years now.
It's also exactly what your football/baseball/basketball/etc teams are going to do. Those teams won't accept 50% of their kids being cut out of the team because of scheduling, they'll just mandate "show up to practice" and it will work fine.
Be willing to be flexible yet firm and this won't be an issue.
