Re: Covid - Can't beat it - Join it!
Sounds like God help those kids if you have to teach English. I've read your opening thoughts a few times and I still don't know what you're trying to say in the opeing sentence.
I just want you all to remember how for this shutdown you were. Let's see if we still have the same feelings if your job or purpose goes away come fall. Just remember you were all for shutting down if it saved just one life..... (until it affects you).
No sports means no marching band. No marching band means a huge loss of funding and exposure. And those that trash on Bubba and Friday nights do realize how much they do DO for Texas music programs. Or worse, the schools talking about A/B days or having the elementary kids go but MS/HS kids do remote learning (DISD) so they can turn those campuses into elementary campuses to open up space. And they all decide that without kids on campus there is no need for electives, (don't think the state won't wave those requirements in a heartbeat if they decide going to school is too scary), and then your choice is to teach math, (God help those poor kids if I have to teach them math), or you go on unemployment. Makes a mild case of Covid sound inviting doesn't it if it means you can keep your way of life.
Anyone thinking about purposely getting Covid this summer in hopes to build up the immunity before the school year begins???
I'm in good health, 40s, and just want to put it behind me this summer so I can get on with my Fall and teaching!
We're all going to get it at some point and I believe that I will build an immunity to it.
