Re: To be in the class or not to be
The rule specifically states that membership is defined by the school, not by class enrollment. The eligibility issue does not pertain at all.
From what I understand, yes (it certainly is for marching band). But, if your district is waiving academic eligibility for C&SR, she would still need to be academically eligible since she is not a part of the class. That is how I understand it. The best thing to do would be to contact UIL; not your region secretary but the main office. Reginas secretaries tend to have their own interpretation of some of these less clearly defined rules. The main office is the interpretation that matters, especially in terms of eligibility (which this is).
I have a student who is taking every advanced course under the sun. She's number 1 in her class and due to double blocking these advanced classes she has run out of periods for band.
My question is, if she is not enrolled in the band class can I still take her to UIL events?
I've been reading the eligibility requirements but can find an answer so if anyone can link the actual rule that would be great!
