Re: Holding them accountable
Why would the pandemic stop someone from getting a show done? I would start asking why the pandemic is causing them an issue. Surely a drill writer is working from home?
Hey YB! I know this may seem a little premature, but I'm going to ask anyway.
Are you HS marching band directors planning for next season or holding off?
I'm asking because my writer (big name that I wont name) has dropped the ball on my show.
I know that they are capable of picking it back up and producing a slam dunk.
I am supposed have the first two thirds of my show delivered. Right now I have nothing. Yes, we have a contract; and yes, I paid a (rather large) deposit several months ago. I have followed up with the writer and have been told that this is due to the pandemic, which I do understand.
Should I press them further, or just wait it out? I do not want to rush the writer and receive and inferior product. At the same time, new music would really give my students something to be excited about and look forward to. Doubly so because the honor band process is not going to happen.
What are your thoughts? Should I give them a break?
