I had my life in order before I graduated. As the poster above said, stay out of financial trouble by avoiding it in the first place.
Meet someone to have said kid? Met her in college.
Most utilities are covered in the rent except for electricity, phone, & internet. Even if they aren't, that isn't going to cost you $1000. Add gas & water to that and you STILL aren't spending $1000. If you are...you either have the lights & water running 24/7/365, or you are being ripped off. The most you would pay if you had to pay for all of that would be around $400, and that would be during the summer peak season. If you threw the remaining $600 at your loan, then, and only then would you get to $1K. Married? Then your individual costs are halved (which would give you more money to throw at the loan...meaning you pay the loan off sooner with less interest paid on it...saving you even more...think of how much extra money you would save just by adding enough in each payment to make 13 full payments in 12 months...that will cut at least 3 years off the term), and there is another income in the house (that makes $100K in total household income).
Learn how life truly is before you graduate. That way you won't get neck deep in things. It's apparent that it is too late for you.
