Re: TSSEC Suspended
Dallas County extended their stay-at-home order until May 20th yesterday. That is the biggest metro area in Texas to do so. I can see the dominos falling already. Everyone will be online until the end of May. Buh Bye UIL EVERYTHNG! I giving a handful of students a chance to "end" their H.S. sporting, academic, or music careers is more important than public health then WE HAVE A BIGGER PROBLEM THAN WE REALIZED!
I spoke with my AD earlier after UIL put out this latest statement. They've basically got their backup plan for sports seasons to have a two week practice window, then finishing up seasons until the end of June. If they're allowed to do that it's hard to say no on the TSSEC. All of that is dependent on May 4th not changing. If it goes any further it'll be cancelled altogether.
I think UIL is trying to be hopeful that they can somehow let kids have the chance to play out their seasons, but they're also realists that it's an outside possibility if this continues.
Me? I don't see it happening. We're not going to peak until at least the end of April here in Texas, and if you just send everyone back it's going to be a pretty likely flare up before graduations would happen. If we're lucky we'll get a graduation in for our seniors, but we won't be going back for school and UIL events.
