Re: Should I still talk to admin?
That the person in question is a poor teacher? Every community is different. In some communities they are just happy to have a band, and they’ll usually find a director who has those same goals. What it comes down to is your definition of success. Not UILs definitions, or the program in the next town over, but yours. If you’re the highest up on the chain as far as music is concerned in your district, then as a head director, the district hires you to make those decisions. They didn’t hire the other person, they hired you. You can make it whatever you want it to be, and if the district doesn’t like it, they’ll let you know, or hire someone else! And that’s okay! As an assistant you have to accept that vision of success, or move on into a program where your vision is more compatible.
Zip your lips and move on. I know, you want to get this poor teacher out of the biz and save the world for the hard working students who deserve better. I've been there. I know what you're feeling. Take the advice from those above that say work hard, keep your mouth shut, and move on to greener pastures. You'll be much better off in the long run.
