Re: When is it okay to move
I would say move on when you feel ready to move on, and just be honest with the panel if they ask you why you've moved so much. They should understand that you're trying to find your fit
I am a young teacher, in my third job and fifth year teaching. I spent two years at my first job and two years at my second. I am in my first year at my current job. Though I have no plans on leaving my current position, I feel confident that this isn't where I would like to stay permanently. I am now teaching elementary and truly miss band. My first two positions were both band and I feel that is my calling. I was encouraged to try elementary music as I had yet to find the right fit within a band program. Well, I have tried it and see myself untimely returning to band. I am learning so much teaching elementary and I know I will be able to bring my new knowledge (and learned patience) back to band directing!
My question is, how long do you think I need to stay at my current position so I do not become labeled as a job hopper?
Again, I have no plans of leaving, but I do believe my calling is teaching band.
